Paul Clerici, author of the recently-published “History of the Greater Boston Track Club” book, will be at Eight Cousins Bookstore in Falmouth for a meet & greet and book signing on Saturday, December 7, at 2 pm as part of the “Falmouth Holidays by the Sea Weekend” festivities.
“History of the Greater Boston Track Club” is the definitive history of the club, whose alumni include the likes of Olympians and Boston Marathon champions such as Bill Rodgers, Alberto Salazar, Greg Meyer, coach Bill Squires, and author Sebastian Junger, wheelchair legend Bob Hall, Falmouth Road Race and Boston Marathon race director Dave McGillivray, among many others.
Many of the stories are Cape Cod-related, including from the Cape Cod Marathon, various Cape races, Rodgers and Salazar at the Falmouth Road Race, and more.
Each year, the BAA makes available to the New England running clubs a limited number of entries for which the age group time qualifications are waived. Any interested FTC member should fill out the 2014 Boston Marathon Waiver Form and submit it by December 10 for the board’s consideration at the next meeting on December 17. More info & form.
Next meeting will be Tuesday, December 17, 7 pm at the Quarterdeck Restaurant, 164 Main Street.
All members are welcome! Everyone’s input and support are important for the future of our Club!

The track workouts will persist, as ever, regardless of weather. You never have to worry about being the only crazy person! There will always be at least one other person running around on an oval track all winter long! The numbers have actually been good of late, even in the cold. Bundle up!
There are two workout groups to choose from: The first is a group appropriate for people who are beginners, have a fear of track workouts, are recovering from injury and run/walkers. This group should warm up and be ready for 5:30 pm. The workout overlaps with the 6 pm group and is a 40-minute group.
The 6 pm group is a one hour group and those participants should be ready to go at 6:00. (more…)
Thirty-two FTC members and friends registered for the 18 hole event at beautiful Paul Harney Golf Course.
Eight teams of 3-4 players each were formed and the competition started just after 2pm.
Skill levels again varied greatly but all enjoyed a perfect afternoon of early fall golf up and down the hills and dales of Paul Harney Golf Club.
Congratulations to all the runners! And thank you to all the volunteers who once again made it a fun and successful event! View the results. (Corrected results posted on September 12.)
