Board of Directors Meeting

August 29, 2005

 The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Falmouth Track Club was held at the Quarterdeck Restaurant on August 29, 2005. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by President Russ Pelletier. Present were Russ Pelletier, Carolyn and Courtney Bird, Jack Carroll, Wendy Carroll, Terry McKee, Jim Preisig and Doris Beatty.

1. Secretary’s Report

In the absence of Secretary Kris Tholke, Doris Beatty presented the minutes of the Annual Meeting held January 19, 2005. It was noted that the Treasurer’s Report club balance was actually $39,000 and not $19,000. Jack Carroll moved that the minutes be accepted as amended. The motion was seconded by Courtney Bird and carried unanimously.

2. Reports from Officers

Treasurer’s Report - The President reported that the Club is in very good shape. We are carrying a balance in the area of $47,000 and an $8,000 CD. The income is presently high because of the Cape Cod Marathon.

Vice President’s Report - Jack Carroll discussed keeping the newsletter on a quarterly schedule.

Main Street Mile- It was noted that Betsy Gladfelter would be putting articles in the Falmouth Enterprise regarding the race. The President reported that as of now there are no raffle prizes available. In checking the list, members volunteered to contact businesses for participation. The committee will be meeting with Mike Sbrocco to finalize the details of the race.

Membership – Doris Beatty reported that there are 165 paid members with 4 new members.

Special Events – Carolyn Bird reported that the next possible club event could be the Ollie Race which is part of the Grand Prix Series.

Cape Cod Marathon – Courtney Bird reported there are 830 marathoners signed up and 59 relay teams, which is 25% ahead of last year. The first meeting of the Marathon Committee will be Thursday, September 1 st.

Coaching – Jim Preisig. Track workouts are going well with 18-plus attending along with the girls cross-country team. Bob Richards is working with the team. Another ice cream social is planned this week.

Member at Large – Terry McKee – Reported that 36 shirts were sold, which is the same number of people who responded to the inquiry of the shirts. She is looking for different material in another brand of shirts, Leslie Jordan. Samples were available.

3. Unfinished Business

A reminder that all officers and directors should be USATF members. Members will be reimbursed for the cost.

4. New Business

A USATF meeting will be on September 29 th for election of officers and the first Monday of November the meeting to decide on the Grand Prix events. Courtney urged members to attend the meeting to vote for the Cape Cod Marathon

The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17 th at 7:30 at the Quarterdeck Restaurant.
