Falmouth Track Club
Board of Directors Meeting
April 25, 2006
The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Falmouth Track Club was held at the Quarterdeck Restaurant on April 25, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 7:33 p.m. by President Russ Pelletier. Present were Bob Richards, Alan White, Doris Beatty, Wendy and Jack Carroll, Pete Landry, Anne Preisig, Lucy Young, Courtney and Carolyn Bird, Patti O’Brien, Paul D’Angelis, Maggi and Bob Yates, Dana DeLorme and Kris Tholke.
The secretary’s report was distributed earlier by email for everyone’s review. The minutes were accepted. A few typos will be corrected and the minutes will be sent again.
Treasurer’s Report. Russ reported that there is $1600 profit from the Seagull Six; $58,000 in checking-$10,000 of which is accounts payable, leaving a $48,000 net balance. Court Bird and Jack Carroll will be analyzing the financials from previous years. The objective will be to determine what we need to hold in reserve, and how much we realistically can be set aside for various donations.
Vice President’s Report - Jack reported that they are working on the next newsletter and that the information on the youth programs needs to get in it before June.
Seagull Six – The race directors will decide where the $1600 profit from the race will go. Next year we should keep the walk part separate from the Seagull Six. Maybe have a band and awards ceremony at the Kidd so more people will stay after the race.
Membership – Doris reported that there are 194 paid members.
Main Street Mile - Patti and Dana would like to give out 5 scholarships instead of 4 due to the excellent candidates. This is money from last September’s race. A motion was made and accepted to allocate $500 for one more scholarship.
Friday Night Five – No report.
Special Events – Bob Richards said the next focused race will be the Kyle Conlon race and the next Grand Prix. The Grand Prix is in Taunton, a 5K and is on June 4.
Kris made a suggestion to get a group to go to a Red Sox game.
Jones Rd cleanup will be April 30 with a rain date of May 4.
Cape Cod Marathon – Courtney Bird reported that he reserved the Lennox room again for 2007. There was a good turnout for the room this year and after all, it is a tradition.
Sovereign Bank and Dunkin Donuts have reversed roles as sponsors with DD as the marathon sponsor and Sovereign as the relay sponsor. So far we have 85 marathoners and 5 teams which is less than last year at this time.
Coaching – Anne Preisig reported that workouts will focus on the Grand Prix series. There is a core group that comes and she is encouraging more people to give it a try.
FTC Clothing – FTC clothing sold very well at the Seagull Six. Janet Folger sold over $500 worth
Anne Preisig is getting ready for the youth program. May 15, fliers are expected to be out at the rec. center. These fliers reference our web site so it is important to get that up to date.
Boston Marathon waivers. This year was very confusing regarding the waivers as many people who wanted them, eventually back out due to lack of training or injuries. It was proposed to have a committee carefully review each applicant next year as to their actual training. We proposed to give them out later, so as to be sure runners are ready for the marathon and there is no switching or unused numbers.
Next Meetings:
