Board of Director’s Meeting
February 27, 2006 The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Falmouth Track Club was held at the Quarterdeck Restaurant on February 27, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 7:34 P.M. by President Russ Pelletier. Present were Russ and Joan Pelletier, Carolyn and Courtney Bird, Doris Beatty, Jack Carroll, Dana Delorme, Ken Gartner, Tor Clark, Peter Landry, Maggi Yates, Helen Kennedy, Mike Norton and Jim Barry.
SECRETARY’S REPORT -Minutes of the previous meeting were distributed earlier in the week and read by the Board. They were accepted as is.
Treasurers Report - Joan reported there is approximately $60,000 in the bank and reminded people to submit their USATFNE paid dues to her for reimbursement.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT - Jack Carroll reported that Life is Good declined a sponsorship opportunity with the Club.
Peter Landry will work with Courtney Bird to set up the Newsletter format. Because Peter will be away until the end of March, Courtney will create the Newsletter this time.
MEMBERSHIP - Doris reported that we have 181 memberships and 100 of those members have paid their 2006 dues. There were 8 new members
SPECIAL EVENTS - Carolyn reported that the Piccolo Fun Run on February 12 th had to be cancelled because of the blizzard. We should also consider not having a Fun Run President’s week-end next year as people are either away or busy that weekend and are unable to attend.
Information regarding the Grand Prix Series will be included in the next Newsletter. There was discussion regarding FTC members entering teams all the series races and where does the prize winning money go and should it be given back to the teams.
A motion was made and seconded that any team prize money from the Grand Prix Series be split among the participants. The motion carried unanimously.
CAPE COD MARATHON - Courtney reported that Sovereign Bank is back as a sponsor along with Dunkin Donuts and Offshore Ale. Entries are coming in and if you sign up on-line you get a New England Runners Magazine subscription for only $19.50. Courtney also noted that Brian Shacter is looking for a replacement as Course Director.
SEAGULL SIX - Mike Norton is looking for volunteers at the Finish Line. The usual people will be helping out again this year with the exception of Carolyn. He is going to check the volunteers for the water stop at 3 miles. The VNA walk is the same this year, but it was discussed that in the future they handle their own event and not have it part of the Track Club. Mike will talk with them.
MAIN ST. MILE - Patti O’Brien and Mike Sbrocco have met and are in process of setting up a time line for the race. Courtney will get the on-line registration set up.
FRIDAY NIGHT FIVE - Application for 2006 insurance coverage was submitted in mid February.
COACHING - It was reported that track workouts are going on at Fuller Field with about 8 to 10 people participating.
MEMBER AT LARGE - Terry McKee has ordered FTC clothing and they should be in soon.
OLD BUSINESS – USATFNE Officers and Directors Insurance has been paid in the amount of $1,014.
NEW BUSINESS – The Committee reported that it met with Anne Jennings and Ann Preisig regarding the details of the two different young programs they presented. One is a running program and the other is a track and field program. Equipment, insurance, ages, volunteers were also discussed.
A motion was made by Jack and seconded by Carolyn to approve the youth track and field program and the running program for the summer of 2006 as presented with clarification on insurance for coaches and volunteers. An amendment to the motion was made by Courtney and seconded by Jack that budgeting not exceed $4,000 without the approval of the board. The motion and the amendment passed unanimously.
