Board of Directors Meeting
March 28, 2006
The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Falmouth Track Club was held at the Quarterdeck Restaurant on March 28, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Russ Pelletier. Present were Bob Richards, Mike Norton, Danielle Brown, Wendy and Jack Carroll, Don Facey, Anne Jennings, Lucy Young, Courtney Bird, Patti O’Brien, Jane Brown, Jim Preisig, Pete Landry, Doris Beatty, Maggi Yates, Maddy Marken, Nicole Fox and Kris Tholke.
The secretary’s report was distributed earlier by email for everyone’s review. The minutes were accepted.
Treasurer’s Report. No treasures report.
Vice President’s Report- Jack reported that the newsletter was out. Pete Landry is in charge now but he stated that in his absence, Courtney did most of the work on this issue. Wendy Carroll, the member at large is trying to get more people involved in the newsletter.
Seagull Six – Mike Norton stated that we are all set for the Seagull Six. There are 102 pre-registered and 35 did it online.
Membership – Doris Beatty reported that there are 186 paid members.
Main Street Mile - Patti O’Brien says they are way ahead of schedule in planning for this event.
Friday Night Five – No report.
Special Events – The “Bridge Run” will be happening March 26. Bob Richards reported that there was a good turnout for the New Bedford Half Marathon
Cape Cod Marathon – Courtney Bird reported that the numbers are down a little from last year. Sovereign Bank is back in and Dunkin Donuts may be interested in a bigger role. Dana Farber is planning on sending 50 marathoners and 15 teams. A group from California is sending about 30 people for the marathon. Don Fredrickson will take over the water stop duty from Tim Jones who is moving to California. We still need a course director to take over from Brian Schacter.
Coaching – Jim Preisig reported that workouts will be held back at the FHS track area again.
FTC Clothing – Janet Folger will have clothing available for sale at the Seagull Six
3. Old Business
Anne Jennings plans to have her youth running program at Mashpee High as FHS is unavailable due to construction. She has made some drafts of brochures and suggests having 2 brochures for the 2 different programs. ( hers and Anne Preisig’s). Both programs are moving along.
Don Facey proposed to support the Kyle Conlon Race by providing rides or carpools to the event, free entries, free brunch and hopes to gather at least $300 in donations to the American Cancer Society. He will organize everything and only asks for FTC to do a mailing and support for entries.
A motion was made to support the race with up to $100 for mailings and up to $600 for entry fees and carpool reimbursement. This motion was approved.
