Cape Cod Marathon - Courtney Bird reported that to date, we have 750 race entries, 90 relay teams, about 30 percent ahead of last year with the number of relay teams. We should sell out the relay by mid September and sometime in October we should sell out the race. We have a new sponsor, Uncle Bobs self storage is giving us $1,500.00 and letting us use four box trucks. Some of the same sponsors are coming back. New Balance is the primary sponsor for the relay. They have a two year agreement with an option to extend to three years. The New Balance store that is sponsoring us is a privately owned company with one store in Mashpee and one store in Burlington. New Balance Maspee is looking to co-op this sponsorship, $5,000.00 this year with the contingency that they will do $10,000.00 next year.
Courtney said he made a follow up on the staging equipment for the last few years. We paid $1,000.00 a year to rent the staging equipment. Courtney thought we could make a capital investment into buying the staging equipment and amortizing it over the next few years. He said it would cost about $3,500.00 to purchase the equipment, which could be broken down and stored. Courtney is in the process of purchasing it, which in three years it will pay for itself. Carol will not be doing the CCM store, Lisa Asendorf willl be taking over Carol Brown's CCM store job. Brian S___(SP) who worked the finish line will not be working this year. Betsy Gladfelter will work with Ed Giordano at the finish. Wendy Carroll will take over Betsy's job as Press Director. Courtney is very optimistic about the Marathon and the relay teams.
