FTC Supports Youth Runners
On Saturday, November 16, sixteen Falmouth runners, between the ages of 7 and 12, participated in the USATF Junior Olympic cross country in Rhode Island. Over 900 runners from the New England area participated in age group races, with the top 30 in each race qualifying to compete in the regional meet on November 23.
Four of the sixteen runners qualified for the next round, and a fifth just missed qualifying by six seconds.Those qualifying were Henry Gartner (7&8-year-olds 2K), Charlie Dowick (9&10-year-olds 3K), Annalisa Fratantoni (9&10-year-olds 3K), and Alex Fratantoni (11&12-year-olds 3K).
Annalisa and Alex participated in the regional competition on November 23, but did not qualify to continue. Alex was 33rd in his race and Annalisa 54th. Both races had over 150 runners, with the top 20 in each qualifying for the nationals.
