Spring 2015 Golf Tournament
After threats of rain earlier in the week, Saturday, June 13 turned out to be the perfect day for the FTC’s first golf tournament of 2015.
A record 39 FTC members and friends registered for the 18 hole event at beautiful Paul Harney Golf Course.
Eleven teams of 3 or 4 players each were formed and the competition started just after 2 pm.
All enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon of late spring golf with well maintained fairways and nearly perfectly groomed greens.
Falmouth Track Club’s 5th Golf Tournament in the past 3 years was again closely fought with the lone exception of the winning team, The Bobby Bruins, comprised of Peter French, Robert Mascali and Dylan O’Shea, coming out on top with an FTC record low score of 53 — 8 under par for the course!
Second place with a score of 60 was shared by three teams: Two and 1/2 Men, comprised of Tim Brown, Jim Cote and Ben Cote; Team 9, comprised of Allen & Joyce Wilson and Ken Gaynor; and ‘The Hackers’ comprised of David Evans, Chris Cheevers, Collin Martin and John Banner. It’s worth noting that in last spring’s FTC Golf Tournament the winning score was 60!
The prize for ‘Most Golf’ was also hotly contested, but in the end The Vicks, comprised of Jack Afarian, Vicki & Bill Buchanan, and Paul Kapp won out with a final score of 68.
The prize for ‘Longest Drive – Women’ went to Robin Stone; and ‘Longest Drive – Men’ went to Peter DiAngelis.
The prize for ‘Closest to the Pin – Hole 2’ went to Russ Pelletier, ‘Closest to the Pin – Hole 5’ went to Linda Fitzpatrick and ‘Closest to the Pin – Hole 13’ went to Leisa Holder. Joyce and Allen Wilson had a combined three 2nd places on Longest Drive/Closest to the Pin Holes, so they were awarded a prize also.
All agreed it was another great day out and everyone intends to practice through the summer for a re-match in October!
