White Does it Right for Coffee O
Five Win

It was a cool 35 degrees on the first day of March, with a strong
south-west wind blowing. Still 24 hearty runners showed up at Town Hall
Square for the Coffee-O-Five. The post race Coffee-O hot chocolate was
the biggest hit of the night as the cold runners quaffed both steaming
thermoses dry for the first time this year.
Juliette White finally got it right this week. The “wrong way kid”
from Colusa, California took all the right turns in all the right places
and streaked across the line as the first woman with a time of 37
minutes even. Ms. White, who is an SEA student, was hardly winded
after her hard effort despite running to the start all the way from her
residence in Woods Hole. She did manage to bum a ride home with a kind
hearted gentleman. Judi Keller edged Linda Dalton for second place in
the women’s division.
The men ran in a tight six pack the entire way, as the top six men
all finished within 15 seconds of one another. Mike Ouimet and Chris
Pariseault took first and third respectively . They were both bouncing
off fine hard efforts at last weeks Hyannis Half Marathon. Jeff List
and Steve Hamel finished together in fourth place, just seconds ahead of
Mike Norton. For Mr. Pariseault it was his Coffee-O-Five debut.
The Coffee-O-Five is a free five mile road race which is held every
week at 5:30 from Town Hall Square. All runners are invited to
participate. The next events on the local running circuit are the
Seagull Six Road Race in Woods Hole on April 7th, and the new “Chase the
Patriot” cross country race at Falmouth Academy on Patriots Day.
