Fast Times Abound with Full Moon Good Friday

What a nice night for a run! Thirty-six runners congregated for the
Good Friday running of the Coffee-O-Five. The perfect running night
attracted the largest field of the year. Maybe it was the full moon,
or maybe the runners are just training harder, but fast times abounded
this week.

Eric Critzer, the speedster from Falmouth High, set the pace this
week. He blasted out a couple of fast miles in the middle of the race
and finished with a time of 28:52, which is the fastest Coffee-O-Five
time of 2002. He had some old bald headed guy hot on his heals who
finished just a half a second later. Tor Clark made a rare
Coffee-O-Five appearance do to the holiday and he took fourth in just
over 31 minutes.

Darrell Herbert and Paul Hartel both posted personal best times.
Both are preparing for the upcoming Boston Marathon and their hard
training must be paying off. Mr. Hartel, who was just barely cracking
40 minutes at the start of the year, scorched the course in 36:29. Al
Price also posted a personal best time, but that is nothing new as he
does that every week.

Stace Beaulieu garnered her first Coffee-O-Five win in over a month
with a time of just under 40 minutes. Elizabeth Jazowski the
49-year-old phenom finished second in 43 minutes. Beth Pecci took third
in her first appearance at the event while Elizabeth Sherman nabbed
fourth place with a time of 44:15.

The Coffee-O-Five is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall
Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee for this self-timed event and
all runners are welcome to participate. The next real races on the
local running scene are the Seagull Six Road Race on April 7th in Woods
Hole, and the Chase the Patriot cross country race on April 15th at
Falmouth Academy. It will be the 25th running of the Seagull Six and
the first running of the Chase the Patriot Race, with many more to
follow.
