5 Mile Coffee O Results
Fast Foggy Night at Coffee O Five
Thirty-one runners raced through the heavy fog this Friday
night at the Coffee-O-Five. Now that it is
light for almost the entire run, many of the former regulars who took a winter
break from the event,
are starting to show up again. Despite the north-east head-wind on Surf Drive,
the times were
surprisingly fast this week.
Judi Keller celebrated her 32nd wedding anniversary with
a hard five mile run, while her husband
Fred stayed home and rested. Ms.Keller’s time of 44 minutes was good
enough for fifth place in the
women’s race. Juliette White, the SEA student from California who runs
for Wellesley College,
made it three wins in a row in a very close race. She bested Stace Beaulieu
by a mere 4 seconds.
Monica Hough picked up where she left off last fall with a
third pace finish in a time of just over 39 minutes.
Michele Bianchine drifted back into town again after spending thewinter at
his home in Venice, Italy.
The Italian winter must have been conducive to running, as
the veteran runner finished with a time of
31:23, one of his best times for the event. He nabbed fifth place, just seconds
behind Steve Faluotico.
Ulandt Kim took third place with a timeof just over 30 minutes,
while the top two runners both ran 29 minutes
and change.
The Coffee-O-Five is a free self-timed five mile run which
is held every week from Town Hall Square
in Falmouth. The race starts at 5:30 and all runners are welcome to participate.
The next local “real” races
are the Seagull Six Road Race on April 7th at 11:00 AM in Woods Hole and a
new cross-country race
at Falmouth Academy on Patriots Day at 10:00 AM.
