Forty Runners Strong at Coffee-O-Five

It was warm, it was light, and Hugh from Coffee Obsession showed up
with a large cooler of ice water instead of hot chocolate. All these
things suggested that summer is definitely on its way. Forty runners
showed up this week, another record field for 2002.

Jess Baker, last weeks Seagull Six Road Race winner, finished first
for the woman and fourth over-all. She finished in a three way tie with
Terry Souza and Jeff Hamilton, with a time of 33:40. Dina Pandya showed
up for her first time since last summer and bounded into Town Hall
Square with a time of just over 36 minutes, which was good enough for
second place by a scant seven seconds. Stace Beaulieu posted a personal
best 5 mile time with her third place finish in 36:11. Kathleen Savage
and Karoline Steckley rounded out the top five.

Al Price set the early fast pace as he went out very aggressively.
He faded towards the end but still held on to smash his personal best
time by almost 2 minutes. Tim Jones uncorked his fastest Friday night
run since 1999, when he was young and fast. Mr. Jones finished third in
just over 33 minutes.

The Frantantoni’s made it a family affair as their whole family
finished in a three way tie, although young Alex was just going along
for the ride. The Plant family also showed up in force with young Matt
outdistancing his father and his uncle.

The Coffee-O-Five is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town
Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee for this self-timed
event and reflective running gear is no longer necessary. All runners
are invited to participate.
