Personal Best Times Abound at Coffee-O-Five

Wow what a great night for the Coffee-O-Five runners! At least
eight runners turned in personal best five mile times and there were
many happy faces milling around Town Hall Square after the race.

It was a good night for the Hasson family as Anne clocked a
personal best time of 61 minutes and her husband, John, cracked 38
minutes for his first time. Judi Keller ran a personal best time of 42
minutes flat and dusted her ailing husband in the process. Rich Waldman
and Karoline Steckley also clocked personal bests.

Brian Nelson’spersistence finally paid off as he finally cracked 30 minutes after 3
long years of trying. Mr. Nelson crossed the line looking strong with 14 seconds to spare.

The women's race was a very competitive two woman duel. Courtney
Polakovic raced home in 31:34, which was the fastest woman’s time run in
over a year. Jessica Baker wasn’t far behind as she shattered her
personal best time by 30 seconds and finished in 32:13. After the race
the two fleet women vowed to start training together and attack the 30 minute mark.

The Falmouth High men’s cross country team used this week’s run as
a preseason tune up. Eric Critzer led the way, as the young distance
ace dusted the entire field with a first place finish. He loped home at
5:40 pace without breaking a sweat. Jared Wilcox, who will be running
his first season at Falmouth High, ran a very respectable time of 31:51
in his first 5 mile race. Todd Kirkman and Joe McMenamy also turned in fine runs.
Running with the team seems to have paid off for Pete Sampson,
the men’s cross country team coach, as he cracked 30 minutes
for his first time in a couple of years.

Don Lunn arrived an hour late and set out solo on the 2.4 mile walk
in an effort to keep his streak alive of walking in all of the
Coffee-O-Five walks. He had no one to talk to but strolled into town 41
minutes later with a big smile on his face. The walk was added to the
event 10 weeks ago.

The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which
is held at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry
fee for this self-timed event and all are welcome to participate.
