Ouimet and White Take Top Honors in Coffee-O Five

Falmouth's Mike Ouimet and Juliette White of Colusa, California took top honors in the Coffee-O Five held on February 15th. Mike is a veteran of the Friday night series and ran an impressive 30:44 to be the first runner to cross the finish line. Juliette White ran her first Coffee-O, putting in a respectable 39:56 clocking, and was the fastest woman.

In winning, Ouimet finished more than a minute ahead of second place Steve Hamel. Ms White's time would have been better but for the fact that she was unsure of the course. At a few junctures along the route, she actually stopped to wait for runners behind her who could tell her the way.

Friday's field was small because many of the regulars were resting up for the Martha's Vinyard 20 Miler, which was held the next day. But for those who ran, the temperatures were mild, and the running conditions were good. Afterward, steaming hot chocolate, compliments of Coffee Obsession, warmed all the finishers.

The Coffee-O five is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square. There is no fee for this self-timed race, and all runners are welcome. In the Winter months, all runners are asked to wear reflective vests.
