Friday Night 5 Mile Coffee O Results

Hot Cocoa Such a Big Hit at Coffee-O-Five....No one
cares who won

It was 32 degrees and a great night for a run. Twenty-three runners gathered this week for the weekly
Coffee-O-Five run. All were greeted by a pleasant surprise this week as they found a large piping
hot thermos of hot chocolate sitting by the sign-in sheet at the end of the race. The hot concoction was
graciously supplied by the friendly folks at Coffee Obsession. It was so thoroughly enjoyed by all the
runners that it could be the start of a new trend in winter road racing.

Not a drop of hot cocoa was left at the end of the night.

Madeleine Marken earned the humanitarian award of the night as she unselfishly waited at the finish
line with the last half cup of hot cocoa saved for the last runner to enjoy. Rick Rizzitano gutted out his
first race in 9 months since he was sidelined by a devastating bike accident. He battled gamely with Judi
Keller and Laurie Fife for much of the race, before both young women overtook him on Surf Drive.
Wendy Stafford led the women this week with a time of 40 minutes, while Joanne Corsano took second with a time of just under 45 minutes.

Two runners from Rhode Island cracked the top five this week. Tim Lynch of North Kingstown, RI finished
fourth in just over 32 minutes, while Dave Farrell of Barrington, RI finished fifth. Mr. Lynch manages to take
in the weekly race about once a year, and he actually won the event once several years ago. Mr. Farrell is a Coffee-O-Five regular.

The Coffee-O-Five is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry
fee or registration required and all runners are welcome to participate. Reflective running vests are
required in the winter.
