Molloy Takes First in Pre-Wedding Run

Coffee-O-Five Celebrates
Five Years

The Coffee-O-Five celebrated its five year anniversary this
Friday. There have been a few name changes along the way but nothing
else has really changed in the 260 races which have been run over the
past five years. It still remains a free, low-key, self-timed, run for
people of all abilities who like to run.

Sixty runners and another dozen or so walkers showed up this week
to brave the heat and humidity. It was by far the largest turnout of
the year. The last runner finished at 6:30 and the torrential down pour
of rain conveniently waited until 6:45 to deluge the runners. After the
run the runners and walkers and other assorted people celebrated at the
first annual Coffee-O-Five pool party which was held at some poor
unsuspecting club member’s house.

Kara Malloy of Westord blitzed the course with a seasons best time
of 31:59 and bested one of the toughest womens fields in quite a while.
Ms. Malloy was in town for her wedding which was to be held on the
following day. Her brother Rich Molloy took second over-all with a time
of just over 30 minutes in his Coffee-O-Five debut. It was a true
family affair as the father of the bride-to-be, Richard Molloy, sprinted
home in under 35 minutes. He posted one of the fastest times of the
year for a sixty-year-old runner. All three Molloys dashed off after
the run to attend the wedding rehearsal dinner.

Despite the hot humid night, Brian Nelson recorded a personal best
time of 30:45. Frank Guido of South Dennis cracked the top five for his
second week in a row with a fourth place finish. Nancy Correia led a
pack of seven very fast women who all stormed down Walker Street
shoulder to shoulder. All seven women finished within one minute of
each other with times between 35 and 36 minutes. Joining the walkers
this week was Eddie Doyle, one of Boston’s most well-known bartenders.

The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile running race which is held
on Fridays at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry
fee and all runners invited to participate. For those who are not that
fleet of foot, there is a noncompetitive 2.4 mile walk as well.
