22 Walkers at
Second Cofee-O-"two point four"
It was a nice night for a run or a walk and it yielded another
great turnout for the Coffee-O-Five. Twenty-seven runners toured the
five mile course this week, while the the field in the walking event
doubled to 22 walkers in just its second week.
Tommy Leonard, the worlds most jovial bartender, stormed out of the
Quarterdeck at precisely 5:29 with at least 10 last minute walking
recruits in tow.
Also participating were four well conditioned graduates of the Cardiac
Rehab program who gutted out the 2.4 mile walk. A couple of baby strollers
and a dog or two were also spotted out on the course.
Michael Stone of Falmouth raced home to a second place finish in
the run with his best ever Coffee-O-Five Time. He finished in just
under 34 minutes which was good enough to hold off the fast finishing
kick of Tim Jones.
Andrew Hassey nabbed fourth in 36 minutes flat for
his first top five finish at the event. Also cracking the top five for
his first time ever was Paul Hartel. Mr. Hartel finished in 36:56.
Pam Marynski easily won the womens race in her Coffee-O-Five
debut. Ms. Marynski was in town visiting relatives for the Memorial
Day
Weekend. She loped home in 36:30 and placed fifth over-all. Marie
Liska edged Monica Hough by 30 seconds for second place.
Lisa Lamont and Sharon Napier rounded out the top five for the women.
The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile run and a 2.4 mile walk.
It is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in
Falmouth. There is no entry fee for this self timed event and all
runners and walkers are invited to participate.
