Iron Man Don Lunn Keeps Streak Alive

Thirty-four runners and another dozen walkers took part in this
week’s Coffee-O-Five. The new 2.4 mile walk is now entering it’s fourth
month and Don Lunn is setting himself up for the “iron walker” award, as
he has not missed one of the walks since the inception of the event.

Two of Falmouth’s “old-timers” fared very well this week as two
fifty year old veteran runners cracked the men’s top five. Dan Frye
turned in one of his best Friday night runs in quite a while, as the 55
year-old speedster took fourth over-all with a time of 32:27.

Finishing hot on his heels was Steve Hamel. Mr. Hamel not only runs
races well but also directs them well, as he recently took over as the
race director of the popular Main Street Mile.

Steve Faluotico streaked home in just under 30 minutes to take
second place with one of his best Friday night clockings. Michelle
Bianchini drifted back into town for his annual fall stay on the Cape.
He took third over-all with a time of just under 32 minutes.

The women’s race was a real barn burner, as the top four women all
finished within 30 seconds of one another. Kris Tholke of West Falmouth
led the way with a time of 39:34. Finishing just 14 seconds later were
Stace Beaulieu and Kathleen Savage as they crossed the line in a dead
heat in a tie for second. Patricia Nye edged Elizabeth Waldman for fourth.

The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile run held every Friday night
at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no registration
required for the event and all runners are welcome to participate.

A noncompetitive 2.4 mile walk is held in conjunction with the run. Rumor
has it the one of the runners from the event has offered to host a post
race spaghetti dinner for the participants in next weeks event.
