Friday Night
5 Mile Coffee O Results

Blusztajn Back off Injured Reserve List

It was hot, humid, and muggy this Friday night for the
Coffee-O-Five. It seemed more like the dog days of August than the
beginning of the fall. Twenty-nine runners and a dozen walkers took
part in the event this week.

Jurek Blusztajn made his first return to the race since pulling up
lame on Surf Drive, with a pulled hamstring muscle over a month ago.
Mr. Blusztajn is one of the most rugged of the regular Coffee-O-Five
runners, as he is in fourth place on the list of Coffee-O appearances.

He has almost 150 finishes, which add up to 750 “Coffee-O-Five miles,”
through all types of weather conditions over the past five year. The
veteran middle-of-the-pack runner trotted home in 47 minutes on his
still gimpy leg.

Jeff List chalked up his 100th Coffee-O-Fiver and did it in style
with a first place finish. Mr. List is training for a fall marathon.
He finished in just under 31 minutes, which was one of his fastest five
milers in a couple of months. Michelle Bianchini edged Steve Hamel for
third place. Rob Flaherty may be one of the fastest M.D.s in town, as
chalked up his first top five finish with a time of just over 34
minutes.

Maureen Copeland dusted the women and all but three of the men as
she streaked home with a time of 33:26 in her Coffee-O-Five debut. Ms.
Copeland is on the womens cross country team at Allegheny College in
Pennsylvania and is currently in town for the semester at sea program at
SEA.

Mary Olenick and Kris Tholke finished together for second place.
Stace Beaulieu and Joanna York also teamed up together and finished in a
tie for fourth. Ms. York chalked up a five mile personal best time of
42:20 in the process.

Eillen Miskell and Terry McKee traded in their running shoes for
walking shoes this week, and they led the walkers home in a brisk 35
minutes. The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile
walk. It is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in
Falmouth. All are invited to participate.
