Friday Night
5 Mile Coffee O Results
|
It was a glorious day for a run and it resulted in the largest fields of the year for the Coffee-O-Five running and walking events. Forty-two runners and 13 walkers took advantage of the nice night. Many of the participants were running for the first time since last fall. In fitting fashion it was Rick and Anne Walker of Rangley, Maine who led the walkers through the 2.4 mile walk which starts off on what else but Walker Street. Mr. and Mrs. Walker were in town for a family reunion. Brandon Dugan, who was running the event for his first time, took second place with a time of 33:19, just three seconds ahead of Mark Abbott. Mr. Dugan had just a few small wrong turns, but now knows the course. Mike Oimet pulled his running shoes out of winter storage and may have lost a minute or two, but still managed a fourth place finish. Steve Hamel edged out Patrick Parker for fifth. There was a massive three-way logjam for seventh place as Tim Jones, Terry Souza, and Jeff Hamilton all crossed the line in 35:08. Kathleen Savage was the first woman across the line, as her time of
38:31 edged out Wendy Stafford. Ann Tarrant edged Eileen Miskell for
third by just eight seconds. Wendy Kingerlee of Woods Hole chalked up
her first top five finish with a time of 41:40. The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk (that goes down Walker Street) which is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no entry fee for this self-timed event and all runners and walkers are welcome to participate. Coffee Obsession graciously supplies cold water at the finish. |
