Numbers Pick Up at Coffee O Five
January 10, 2003
It was a little brisk this Friday night but other than that, it was
a
nice night for a run and the numbers finally picked up for the Coffee
O
Five. Twenty-four runners and another eight walkers participated this
week.
Lynn Holmgren chalked up the first personal best time of the 2003,
as
she raced home in 34:30. The Sandwich speedster placed sixth over-all
and
first for the women by a large margin. Elizabeth Waldman was the second
woman across the line in just over 42 minutes. Sarah Furtek edged Madeline
Marken for third.
Rish Gori, who is another fast 19-year-old from Sandwich, placed second
over-all with a time of 31 minutes flat. Young Brian Nelson out sprinted
old Jeff List by a second or two, to nab third. Mr. List finally recovered
from a fine showing in his first ever marathon about one moth ago. For
fifth place finisher Dave Stuebe of Woods Hole, it was his first
Coffee-O-Five since last summer.
The walking field was the largest in over a month as seven walkers
followed Don Lunn through the 2.4-mile course.
The Coffee-O-Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which
is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is
no entry fee for this self-timed event and all runners and walkers are
welcome to participate.
