Thirty-four runners and just two walkers braved the cold and rain this
Friday night at the Coffee O Five. Steve Faluotico and Wendy Stafford
proved to be good bad weather runners.
The strong northeast headwind on Surf Drive didn¹t seem to phase
Mr.
Faluoutic as he raced through it at sub six minute pace to finish in
a tie
for first with one of his better Coffee O Five times. Ms. Stafford chalked
up a personal best time on a very tough night to run. Her time of 35:12
stood
up for third place in a very competitive women¹s race.
Younger legs prevailed this week, as Lynn Holmgren
raced home in 33
minutes and change to take first in the women¹s race and fifth
place
over-all. Hot on her heals was Nanci Cahalane who finished just 14 seconds
later to take second. Stace Beaulieu edged Jessica Smith-Rohrberg for
fourth
in the women¹s race.
Mike Ouimet was the early pace setter and he held on
for a third place
finish in just under 32 minutes and just two seconds off his time of
last
week. Jason Goux, a former Falmouth resident now residing in Minneapolis
crossed the line six seconds later to take fourth in his Coffee O Five
debut. Chris Lisko rounded out the top five for the men¹s field.
Barbara and Don Lunn were the only walkers this week.
They trudged
home in just over 40 minutes. The Coffee O Five will celebrate its sixth
anniversary in two weeks and the walk is now over one year old.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile race and 2.5
mile walk which is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is
no entry fee for this self timed event and all runners and walkers are
encouraged to participate.
