Norton and Holmgren Lead Coffee
O Fivers
March 14, 2003
Once again the snow storm of the week came on Thursday night, which
caused a little havoc in the footing, but over-all it was a pretty nice
night for a run. The field swelled to 18 runners and another 10 walkers.
There were two runners running the event for the first time, and a few
old
time regulars like Jurek Blusztajn were finally returning to the event
after
a long winter hibernation.
Dana Miskell posted the time to beat this week as he
toured the course
on his lunch break in a time of 33:50. His time almost stood up, but
Mike
Norton stormed into Town Hall Square with a time of 30:48 and finished
in a
tie for first. It was Norton¹s fourth win in a row. Mr. Miskell¹s
time
stood up for third and Jack Carroll took fourth. Pete Landry lost a
few
minutes in his battle with sore foot syndrome, but he still was able
to
chalk up top five finish. He finished in just over 38 minutes.
Lynn Holmgren posted won of the better woman¹s
times of the year. Her
time of 34:35 won the women¹s race with ease and placed her fourth
over-all.
Mary-Louise Timmermans edged Kris Tholke for second. Beth Giuffride,
who
was running the event for the first time, edged Eileen Miskell for fourth.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4
mile walk which is
held every Friday Night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is
no entry fee for this self-timed event and the only prizes are the cups
of
hot cocoa provided to the runners by Coffee Obsession. All are invited
to
participate.
