Norton and Holmgren Lead Coffee O Fivers
for Second Week in a Row
March 21, 2003
No, it didn't snow this week. But the weather gods did threaten the
runners
with rain. However, the deluge held off until after the run. So on the
first
day of spring, Mike Norton and Lynn Holmgren repeated their victorious
performances from the previous week with times of 30:58 and 33:40
respectively over a field of 18 runners.
In the men's race, Matt Theodore of Mashpee was second
in 31:43 followed by
Jeff List of East Falmouth (32:24), Tim Lynch of North Kingstown, RI
(34:15), and Dirk Koopmans of Woods Hole (36:00). In the Women's race,
Mary-Louise Timmermans placed second in 39:00 followed by Sabine Mecking
of
East Falmouth (42:41), Monica Weedon of Falmouth (50:00), and Carolyn
Bird
of Falmouth (65:00).
Depite the threatening skies, it was a pleasant night
to run, especially
when compared to the daunting weather conditions of the winter months.
After
the race, the Coffee O provided hot cocoa for the runners and walkers.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4
mile walk which is held
every Friday Night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is no
entry fee for this self-timed event, and all are welcome.
