Reflector Vest Come Out in Two Weeks for Coffee O Fivers
October 10, 2003
Forty-two runners and another dozen walkers competed in this week¹s
Coffee O Five. Unfortunately there are only two more Fridays left until
the
clocks get set back and the runners will have to dig out their reflective
running vests out of storage.
Steve Faluotico who for some reason seems to always run faster into
headwinds, did it again this week as he plowed though a tough headwind
on
Surf Drive en route to a tie for first place in 29:40. Finishing just
20
seconds later, in just over 30 minutes, were Steve Ruane and Ed Sweeney
of
the 232 Racing Team. For Mr. Sweeney it was a five-mile personal best
time.
Scott Keene has run the Coffee O Five three times and improved on each
occasion. His fifth place time of 31:52 bettered his previous Coffee
O best
time by 20 seconds.
Terry Souza and Jeff Hamilton pulled Wendy Stafford, along, to a first
place finish for the women in a few tics over 35 minutes. Pauline Lim¹s
time of 37:23 bested Sharon Grace by 30 seconds for second. Kathleen
Savage
took fourth in just under 40 minutes, while Kris Tholke edged Eileen
Miskell
for fifth. Caroline Roberts, of East Falmouth, chalked up her personal
best
five mile time on a tough day to run fast.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.5 mile walk which
is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is
no entry fee for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers
are
welcome to participate.
