Solimine and Holmgren Capture Top Honors in Coffee O Five
September 5, 2003

Bill Solimine, 43, of West Falmouth and Lynn Holmgren, 20, of East Sandwich captured top honors in the 324th edition of the weekly Coffee O Five. Both runners are no strangers to the five-mile race, as each has won the race several times before. Their times in this race were 27:31 and 34:21 respectively.

Neither runner was seriously challenged. Solimine finished 4 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor, Brandon Dugan of Falmouth, who ran 31:43. Wendy Stafford, also of Falmouth, kept Holmgren in her sights for the first half of the race, but finished a minute and a half behind in 35:50.

The remaining finishers in the top five places in the men's race were David Stuebe (32:48), Brian Nelson (33:39), and Jeff Hamilton (34:08). In the Women's race, the 3rd, 4th and 5th spots were closely contested with Anne Tarrant (40:46), Stace Beaulieu (40:51), and Mary Ryther (40:52) all finishing within 6 seconds of each other.

It was a good evening for a run with clear skies, low humidity and mild (73 degrees) temperatures, and 42 runners and 6 walkers participated.

The Coffee O Five is held every Friday evening, rain or shine, at 5:30 from Town Hall Square. There is no entry fee, and runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to participate.
