Twenty-six at Pre Marathon Coffee O
Twenty-six runners and half a dozen walkers raced at this week¹s
Coffee O
Five. The post race hot cocoa was replaced by cold water this week,
which
is the official sign that spring has arrived. Some of the regulars were
resting for the next day¹s Chase the Patriot Run. A handful of
other poor
soles were home resting and scoping out the weather channels for someone
that wasn¹t predicting 85-degree heat for Monday¹s Boston
Marathon.
One Friday night regular from North Falmouth had his priorities askew,
as he missed the run to instead celebrate his wedding anniversary. OK
perhaps his priorities were really in the right order.
Dave Farrell of Barrington, RI bolted out to an early lead this week
and hung on for a fourth place finish, just several steps behind Chris
Risko. Pete Landry aired it out this week and his season¹s best
time of
35:02 was good enough to take second place over-all, his best ever Coffee
O
Five finish. Wendy Stafford edged Ann Tarrant and Stace Beaulieu by
about a
minute to take first for the women. Joanne Corsano edged Courtney DiPaolo
by a minute for fourth.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4-mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is
no entry fee for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers
are
welcome to participate.
