Fast Coffee O Five Times on Slow Night to Run
It was another tough air day for running, it was kind of like running
through a cloud this week at the Coffee O Five. It didn¹t seem
to affect
the runners though, as there were many fast times and several personal
bests
were turned in.
Falmouth High Cross Country coach, John Hurley, was probably the
happiest guy in Town Hall Square. He watched Falmouth High harrier,
Justin
Ladner, sprint home with a personal best five mile time of 28:27.
Mr. Ladner crossed the line with two old guys from West Falmouth in
a three-way
tie. Ed Sweeney out-legged his housemate, Steve Ruane, for fourth with
a
personal best time of his own, as he cracked 30 minutes for the first
time.
Jim Partan, another fast guy from Woods Hole, chalked up a personal
best
time of 31:39 en route to a sixth place finish.
Lynn Holmgren out-legged Wendy Stafford by a couple of minutes to take
first for the women. Ms. Holmgren trotted home in 34 minutes flat. Sharon
Grace edged Alexandra Borst by a minute for third. For Ms. Borst, a
summer
Coffee O regular, it was her last Coffee O Fiveat least for this
season.
Rachel Horwitz took fifth in just under 40 minutes.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
are no entry fees for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers
are welcome to attend.
