Team in Green Fares Well at Coffee
O Five
February 20, 2004
The Wood Lumber Racing Team stormed into Town Hall Square with a
mission this week. The men in green placed three runners in the top
five as
they took first, fourth and fifth. They added a twelfth place finish
as
well as Mike Garry took two whole minutes off his season¹s best
time.
The race of the night was for fifth place as Pete Landry and Tim Jones
seemed to battle neck and neck the entire way. Elbows were flying,
heels
were flying high, and arms were pumping as they raced down Surf Drive.
In
the end, it was the younger legs that prevailed and big Tim Jones,
the Wood
Lumber strong man, edged the sore footed man from WHOI by a scant
three
seconds to nab fifth place over-all.
Carolyn Bird ran uncontested to win the women¹s division. Joan
Pelletier won the Don Lunn Ironman Walking Award, as she once again
walked
the course solo. Dan Webb ran his first race as a master runner and
almost
ran his new age. Coffee-O regulars, Jack Carroll and Wendy Stafford,
missed
their first race of 2004 because the Palm Beach shuttle was just an
hour
late getting into town.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that
is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth.
