Coffee O Five Field Finally Picking
Up
February 27, 2004
What a great night for a run, for the first time in months the streets
were dry, snow free, and conducive to fast times. It was also one of
the
warmest Friday nights of the year, and some of the runners wore shorts
instead of layers and layers of heavy sweats. The warm weather brought
out
the largest Coffee O field of the year with twenty-six runners and several
walkers toeing the line. Many were making their first Coffee O Five
jaunt
of the year, and for the othersalmost everyone turned in a season
best
time.
Dave Stuebe started late and finished early and took third over-all.
John Evans finished fourth and chomped over ten minutes off the time
he ran
two weeks ago. Wendy Stafford picked up where she left off with another
first place finish in a time of 36 minutes. Stace Beaulieu and Rachel
Horwitz ran in alongside Dan Webb to tie for second. Eileen Miskell
was the
fourth woman to cross the line. Joan Pelletier finally had some company
in
the walk.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
is
no entry fee for this self-timed event and all runners and walkers are
welcome to participate. Reflective running vests are the only requirement
through the winter.
