Friday Night
5 Mile Coffee O Results

Another Cold One for Coffee O Fivers

The good news was that is was four degrees warmer then the nine degree
temperature of last week¹s Coffee O Five. The bad news was that the wind
was much more intense and the roads were covered with ice and snow. The big
debate of the night seemed to be, what was worse to run inŠnine degrees and
no wind or 13 degrees and a lot of wind. No clear consensus was reached.
RegardlessŠ so far 2004 has not been kind to the Friday night runners.
Nine runners and two walkers foraged through the night this week. No
one ran particularly fast but they all made it through without hitting the
ground, although there was one very close call. No one cautioned Wendy
Stafford about the danger of trying to run through the dangerous turn at
three miles in the snow.
After the run everyone gathered around the post race refreshment truck
and toasted Coffee Obsession and Paul Hartel for the tremendous
contributions they made to post race tailgate party. The Coffee O Five is a
weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is held every Friday night at
5:30 from Town Hall Square. There is no entry fee for this self-timed event
and all runners and walkers are welcome to participate. Warmer weather is in
the forecast for next weeks run.
