Fifty Plus at Pre Mother's Day Coffee O
May 7, 2004
It was a perfect night for a run and a season high of 45 runners and
six
walkers took part in the pre Mother¹s Day Coffee O Five. Steve
Ruane
chalked up his fastest Coffee O finish in over two years, as he was
one of
three runners who cracked 30 minutes this week. Rich Molloy of Millis
made
his yearly Coffee O appearance and raced home to a second place finish
in
just over 29 minutes.
Lynne Clay of Bourne returned after a long Coffee O absence and
outdistanced Wendy Stafford by half a minute to win for the women. Sharon
Napier nabbed third and Stace Beaulieu and Ann Tarrant trotted home
together
in a tie for fourth.
Jack Carroll edged Dave Farrell by 30 seconds in a battle of fast
fifty-year olds and Paul Hartel wasn¹t far behind. Richard Molloy
of
Westford edged Mike Mullo by a minute or two in a battle of fast 60
year-olds. Doug Tholke traded in his bicycle for running shoes and completed
perhaps his first five-mile run ever. He finished in fine form in just
over
48 minutes, which was of course a personal best time.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
are no entry fees for these self timed events and all runners and walkers
are welcome.
