Cold, Dark, and Wet...Just Ten Coffee O Fivers
November 12, 2004
It was cold, dark, and raining for the Coffee O Fivers this week.
There was also a dreaded north-east headwinds it was not a nice night
for a
run. Just 10 runners and no walkers showed up.
It was a casual four-way tie for first between two old guys and two
young guys. Bob Richards, the infamous North Falmouth cannon maker,
held on
to the lead pack for the first mile and finished just three minutes
back for
fifth. Abigail Noble held on to the lead pack for a good three miles,
and
finished just 45 seconds back to take first for the women. Paul Hartel
escorted Lucy Young home, in a gentlemanly fashion, to a second place
women¹s finish in 45 minutes flat. Carolyn Bird was third for the
women.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. The
change from post race water to post race hot cocoa will occur next week,
courtesy of Coffee Obsession. This marks the true start of winter on
Cape
Cod.
