Happy Homecoming and Fast Times at Coffee O Five
September 17, 2004
The calendar said mid September, but it felt more like mid August
at this
week¹s Coffee O Five. Making a guest appearance this week, coming
all the
way from the west coast, was Derek Fong. Mr. Fong was a Coffee O Five
regular since it¹s inception seven years ago, until he headed
west. This
was Mr. Fong¹s first Coffee O Five in over two years and he trotted
home in
fine shape in just a shade over 40 minutes.
Steve Faluotico, hot off a blazing time in last week¹s Main Street
Mile,
cruised home with one of his best times of the year. His time of 29
minutes
and change bested Jeff List for second place. David Farrell chalked
up a
top five finish with his time of 34:11. Jeff Hamilton, the tree man
from
Woods Hole, trotted home with his fastest time in over two years.
He
finished in 34:30.
Jessica Baker trotted home in 33:45 to win the women¹s race.
The next
four women finished within 30 seconds of each other in a very tight
race.
Kara Lavender nabbed second in 40:37, just five seconds up on Kris
Tholke.
Jeanne Cerulle took fourth with yet another personal best. She cracked
41
minutes for her first time, with just second to spare. Ann Tarrant
crossed
6 seconds later for fifth.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that
is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth.
There
are no entry fees for these self-timed events and all runners and
walkers
are welcome to participate. Post race water is generously supplied
afterwards, by Coffee Obsession of Falmouth and Woods Hole.
