It was a busy running weekend on Cape Cod. Twenty-seven runners
ran the Coffee O Five this week and the torrential rain held off until
just seconds after the last two runners had finished. Some runners
were resting for the next day's Paul White Road Race in North Falmouth,
others were resting for the Sandwich Road Race the same day, and others
had a triathalon in Vermont penciled into their schedule.
Chris Buccino bolted out to an early 30 second lead and held on
until four miles when he was overtaken by a pack of four runners. Mr.
Buccino held on to finish fifth, just seconds behind the lead pack.
Laura Hutchinson and Jenny Rocca trotted home in a first place tie
for the women. Lynne Clay and Wendy Stafford followed in third and
fourth.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run that is held every
Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no
entry fee for this self-timed event and all runners are welcome to
participate. Next up on the Cape running schedule is the Osterville
Road Race next week, and the inaugural Full Moon Mile on July 21st.
