Eight Anniversary Run

      The Coffee O Five celebrated it's eight year anniversary this
week.  Eight years ago 13 runners lined up at the innaugral race, this
week 53 runners and half a dozen walkers toed the line.  Over the past
eight years there have been over 400 weekly races through all sorts of
weather with close to 14,000 finishers thus far in the event's history.
  Twenty-four die hards have finished over a hundred Coffee O
Fives...over 500 miles worth.
      The Olenicks dominated the race this week.  Jeff Olenick, of
Newport News Virginia, blitzed the course in just over 27 minutes...by
far the fastest time of the year.  Stephen Olenick, of Columbia
Maryland, was second with a time of 30 minutes and three tics. 
Fourteen-year-old Andrew Grusz, took four minutes off his time of two 
weeks ago and may have set the Lawrence Junior High record in the
process.  Mr. Grusz ran 43:34.
      Ali Smircina, fresh off a Summer Solstice Mile victory earlier
this week, won the women's race in 34 minutes and change.  Wendy
Stafford crossed the line three minutes later to nab second and Eileen
Miskell took third.
      The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk that
is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. 
All are invited to participate in this self-timed event.
