Twenty-five un-superstitious runners enjoyed a spring like night 
at the second Coffee O Five of 2006. The race fell on Friday the 13th 
this week.   Jerry Valente got the "long drive award" of the night.  
Last week Dave Farrell made the tip from his home in Rhode Island to 
take in the event, this week Mr. Valente drove five hours from New 
Jersey with his goal of arriving in time for the 5:30 tip off.  He made 
it with ten minutes to spare.
      P.J. Petrone's late race surge propelled him home to his first 
Coffee O win of the year with a time of 33 minutes and change.  Dan 
Miskell's noon time run of 33:38 almost stood up for first, but took 
third in the end.  Pete Landry edged Jack Carroll for fourth.
      Rachel Horwitz and Stace Beaulieu trotted home together in a tie 
for first.  They finished in a few tics over 41 minutes.  Lucy Young 
edged Heather Farrell for third by 20 seconds and Laurie Fife nabbed 
fifth.  Three women scoffed at the shortened 2.4 mile walking course 
and instead opted to walk the whole five miles.  Joan Pelletier and Ann 
Piccolo walked the course in a brisk 76 minutes....and Carolyn Bird 
sauntered in just nine minutes later.
       The Coffee O Five is held every week at 5:30 from Town Hall 
Square in Falmouth.
