     The calendar said mid January, but the bank thermometer on Main 
Street said 50 degrees this past Friday night.  Twenty runners and a 
pair of walkers enjoyed the warm winter night.
     Ben Hassey had the run of the night, as he lopped two minutes off 
his previous best five mile time.  The Falmouth High harrier had the 
lead until three miles, he hung on for a fourth place finish with a 
time of 34:03.
Mike Norton bolted at three miles to garner his first Coffee O win of 
the year.  Mr. Norton's time of 31:40 edged P.J. Petrone by a minute or 
so.
      Wendy Carroll took first for the women in her rebound from sore 
foot syndrome.  Ms. Carroll cracked 40 minutes with a second or two to 
spare.  Rachel Horwitz and Stace Beaulieu trotted home together in a second 
place tie just a minute and a half later.  Ann Tarrant edged lucy Young 
for fourth.
      The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run or 2.4 mile walk held 
every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth.  All are 
invited.  Reflective running gear is required in the winter.  The event 
is sponsored by Coffee Obsession and the Falmouth Track Club.
