Ninetenn runners ushered in the new year at the Coffee O Five this
week. Ed Sweeney, a former Coffee O regular, stopped off in town just
long enough to take in the run and trotted home in a first place tie in
just under 30 minutes. Chris Darrah, a Mashpee High harrier, took
third in just a shade over 30 minutes. P. J. Petrone nabbed fourth and
Ben Hassey raced home to a fifth place finish in 36:05...a full minute
off his personal best. Mike Garry, a perpetual Coffee O regular, was
home resting for the Weary Travelars Winter Road Race to be held on the
following Sunday.
Rachel Horwitz led the women's field with a time of 40:53. Laurie
Fife took second for the fourth week in a row. Lucy Young edged
Carolyn Bird for third place.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run that is held every
Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. Reflective
running attire is required through the winter. The event is sponsored
by Coffee Obsession and the Falmouth Track Club.
