The Coffee O Fivers were greeted by frigid cold, wind, and icy
roads this week. Fifteen runners braved the elements, with most of
them running in pairs. Mike Norton and Ken Gartner crossed the line
together up front. Finishing in a tie for fourth were Kevin Leach and
Larry Belleveau...the Chatham Road Race director. Jack Carroll and Bob
Richards, another pair of fast fifty-year-olds, tied for seventh in 41
minutes. Glen Rogers and Nicole Fox traversed the course in 44
minutes and change. Lucy Young and Laurie Fife trotted home together
in 50 minutes flat. Dana Miskell....another swift 50 year old posted
the time to beat with a noon time tour of the course in 35 minutes and
change. Chris Lord, an SEA student from Maine, got the tough guy of
the night award as he ran the course in shorts. Mr. Lord took third
place in his Coffee O Five debut.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run that is held every
Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no
entry fee for this self-timed event., Post race hot cocoa is
generously supplied by Coffee Obsession.
