The calendar said it was the first day of fall, but it felt like mid August for the Coffee O Fivers this week. Forty-two runners struggled through a hot and humid night.
Matt Plant, Don Fredrikson, and Ulandt Kim battled early for the lead through three miles with multiple lead changes. In the end Plant and Fredrikson settled for third and fourth and Michael Irving moved up to nab fifth.
Ann Tarrant was the first woman as she raced home in just over 38 minutes. Pauline Lim finished a minute later for second and Stacy DeRuiter took third.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is not entry fee for this self-timed event and all are welcome.
