Chris Noonan of North Falmouth broke into the top five for his first time with a fifth place finish. Steve Hamel and Jeff List ran together to finish in third and fourth.
Afterwards both confessed to avoiding the winter elements and running indoors on treadmills earlier in the week.
An emergency meeting was called by the appalled race directors to discuss this new and questionable training method. Since List is still recovering from the winter flu it was decided to allow this type of training for a while.
Meanwhile tough Laurie Fife, who pounds the pavement outdoors, took the women's race, edging out Judi Keller and Linda Dalton. Ms. Fife ran with, Ed Giordano, her Friday night racing partner. Mr. Giordano either lost his winter sweats or simply misjudged the temperature by about 30 degrees. Never-the-less, he ran in shorts and a T-shirt.
The Friday Night Five is held every week at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no charge for this self-timed event and all runners are welcome to participate. Reflective running vests of some sort are required in the winter.
